Memorial Park News | Summer 2023
Last summer at Memorial Park was a memorable one. The Cream of Wheaton kicked off summer with a business expo, carnival rides, arts and crafts fair, food vendors, live entertainment and the Cosley Zoo Run for the Animals.
We hosted 13 concerts with musical genres from pop cover tribute bands such as Billy Elton and Radio Gaga to classic rock bands including The PettyBreakers and Gold Dust Dreams to and the refined classical musicianship of the DuPage Symphony Orchestra.
Shakespeare in the Park, in partnership with the Wheaton College Arena Theater, brought culture, poetry, drama and comedy to the outdoor stage in August for three nights. That same month, we celebrated Wheaton Brew and Seltzer Fest in Memorial Park. During the entire summer season, we drew more than 13,500 event attendees to the park for music, theater and special events.
As our neighbors, we want to let you in on plans for summer 2023.
Our goal is to bring a balanced schedule of entertainment and fun events to the community during the warm weather months. We collaborate with the Downtown Wheaton Association, Wheaton Chamber of Commerce and City of Wheaton to create a balanced calendar of events.
We work diligently to deliver excellent experiences for our residents, friends, visitors and neighbors. We pay close attention to the needs of those who live in close proximity to Memorial Park, partnering with the City of Wheaton to ensure that we fully comply with city ordinances regarding decibel levels, required permitting for alcohol sales, number of events and park capacity. Our partnership with the Milton Township CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and the City of Wheaton Police Department ensures our special events are as safe as possible.
This year, Cream of Wheaton is set for June 1 through June 4. We have 10 Summer Entertainment Series concert dates scheduled from June through September. Three of these concerts will be FREE and will not require tickets as well as the weekly performances by the Wheaton Municipal Band. Shakespeare in the Park will be back in August, as will Wheaton Brew and Seltzer Fest.
Please keep an eye on memorialparkwheaton.com and wheatonparkdistrict.com as details about the season’s full schedule become available. The lineup and tickets for the Summer Entertainment Series concerts will be announced in early April, with tickets available on April 17.
We hope you will join us often as we celebrate the season and enjoy food, music and the arts in Memorial Park. It’s a great way to build community and we couldn’t do it without support from all of you, our neighbors and friends.
Best Regards,
Michael J. Benard
